Dear Friends,
I hope that you and your families are safe and well. COVID-19 dominates every local newscasts while cable news outlets are running coronavirus content 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And more than that, social media platforms are considered a source of the public's news and information. Despite the continuous coverage, there are many unknowns about COVID-19. As a 20-year public information officer, media relations manager and former journalist, I want to caution you to obtain COVID-19 information from credible sources. Foremost, your physician should be your primary source of information. After your doctor, I suggest you pay close attention to the local information being disseminated by our city and county management. Please know that I share your concerns about the spread of coronavirus and its impact on the welfare of our community. My primary concern is the lack of testing in Arlington and Tarrant County. I have spent a tremendous amount of time working to obtain tests for three symptomatic individuals. It maddens me to had to have leveraged relationships at the national level to get two of these individuals tested; I'm still fighting for the third individual. Think about those who don't have a medical provider and who do not know to call me or someone like myself willing to fight for their right to be tested. There are no testing centers, brick & mortar or drive-thru, anywhere in Tarrant County. That is a failure of local leadership. Look, I know this is a new challenge, however local leadership must step up and be aggressive about servicing the Arlington community with COVID-19 testing. On a more personal note, as a small business owner, I have been directly affected by the economic impact of COVID-19. I am actively structuring solutions and will remain optimistic that my business will survive. So, when I say, 'We Are All In This Together', I mean it! As many among us worry about job security, access to resources, and how new mandates and legislation directly affect our households, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. Therefore, to help eliminate stress and fear, our campaign team has compiled resources to address any concerns or needs you may have, and we will do everything in our power to keep you updated. My website will provide the latest updates on COVID-19 resources. Let me know if I can assist you in any way. Together we will recover! Alisa
